The Washington & Jefferson College track & field teams split for their first two-meet weekend of the season. The Presidents traveled to the Sykes & Sabock Challenge hosted by Penn State University and the Bob Shannon Invitational hosted by Denison University.

Sykes & Sabock Challenge
W&J was one of two Division III teams competing at the Division I hosted indoor track & field invitational.

Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) ran to the Presidents' top finish on the day at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge, placing fifth in the 3,000-meter run. Anderson broke a school record with a time of 10:03.74. Her time was only bested by runners from Division I Cornell University, James Madison University, University of Pittsburgh and Division II Davis & Elkins College. Anderson bests former teammate
Cassie Carr's previous record 3,000-meter time of 10:16.76 from the 2024 season.

Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) set the new W&J school record in the indoor 200-meter dash with a time of 22.28 to place 10
th. The junior sprinter bests his previous record of 22.38 set in 2023. Cestaro III also raced his way to a 14
th place mark in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.08 in the preliminary heats.

Brock Pennington (North East, Pa./North East) and
Dominic Flitcraft (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) ran to top finishes in the men's 3,000-meter run. Pennington led the way with a ninth-place mark with a time of 8:33.58. Flitcraft paced his way to a 15
th place mark with a time of 8:41.29.

Rounding out W&J's athletes at the Penn State,
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) finished 15
th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.54.

Bob Shannon Invitational
For the W&J men,
Alex Maslo (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) headed the Presidents' efforts in the field events with two top-10 finishes. Maslo's best performance came in the tripe jump, where he placed third with a top jump of 12.27 meters (40' 3.25"). In the long jump, Maslo placed eighth with a jump of 6.05 meters (19' 10.25").

Noah Neil (California, Pa./California Area) posted another top-five finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.30 to place fifth.

Freshman
Collin Dusman (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) wrapped the men's top finishers at Denison. Dusman just missed the top eight for finals in the 60-meter dash, placing ninth with a mark of 7.33. The freshman runner also placed 15
th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.82.

For the W&J women,
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) highlighted W&J on the track with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run. Gilles time of 2:26.03 bested runners from Division II California University of Pennsylvania and Seton Hill University.

Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown) was a workhorse in the running events for the Presidents. Schneider took fourth in the long jump with a top leap of 4.74 meters (15' 6.75"). On the track, Schneider finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 10.38. Capping off her day, the junior raced her way to 22
nd in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.76.

Rounding out the top finishers for the women,
Rylee Miller (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) placed eighth in the high jump with a height of 1.43 meters (4' 6.25").

The Presidents return to the track for the SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games in Geneva, Ohio on Saturday (Feb. 15).
