TRAFFORD, Pa. - Washington & Jefferson College baseball freshman Erik Streussnig (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) was awarded Presidents' Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week, announced by the conference Monday (March 24).

Streussnig picked up an important non-conference victory over Marietta (RV) in his second collegiate start. The freshman hurler tossed 6.0 innings of work, fanning three and allowing one unearned run on three hits. Streussnig, who improved to 2-0 on the year, gave up a leadoff single in the fourth and then retired nine straight batters, allowing the Presidents to erase a 1-0 deficit and go on to the victory.

W&J continues conference play on Tuesday (March 25) when they host Thiel College at Ross Memorial Park. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
