BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College women's water polo was awarded two members on the Collegiate Water Polo Association Players of the Week list, announced by the organization Wednesday (April 16).
Emma Halle (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was named the CWPA Division III Player of the Week.
Emmie Ratcliff (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood) claimed the CWPA Division III Rookie of the Week. Both have received their respective honors for the second-consecutive week.
Halle led W&J offensively in each of their three games throughout the CWPA Division III Championship Tournament. She netted 11 of the Presidents 32 goals throughout the weekend. Halle scored a game-high five goals in the win over Carthage and a game-high four goals in the victory over Macalester to advance to the title match. Halle netted two goals in the title match to round out her scoring. Halle was also named All-Tournament Most Valuable Player and to the All-Conference First Team.
Ratcliff continued her positive momentum into CWPA Division III Championship Tournament as she tallied five goals throughout the weekend. Ratcliff scored two goals in both victories over Carthage and Macalester to help the team advance to the Championship game. She added a goal to the team total in the title match against Augustana.
Both Halle and Ratcliff combined for 16 of the 32 goals scored by W&J over the weekend.
W&J will compete against the championship victor from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). The SCIAC Championship will take place next week (April 22, 24 and 26) to determine the Presidents' opponent.
