STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College women's golf team closed out action at the Franciscan Fall Invitational as the top team. Through 18 holes of golf, the Presidents shot a combined 331.

W&J: 1st out of 7
Top W&J Individual: MacKenzie Schmeltz (Edwardsburg, Mich./Saint Joseph) led the W&J women's golfers, finishing in a tie for first place. Schmeltz shot an 80 on the day, finishing eight shots over par.
Notables: Four other W&J golfers finished in a row in the top 10.
Megan Joyce (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) finished in a tie for third place with an 83 on the afternoon.
Julia Barthelemy (Crescent, Pa./Moon Area) and
Antolena Damico (Irwin, Pa./Penn Trafford) each shot an 84 through the 18 holes. Freshman
Brooke Vowcheck (Peters Township, Pa./Peters Township) wrapped up the afternoon having shot a 92.
Tournament Highlights
Top Team: W&J finished as the top team, shooting a 331 as a team. The Presidents finished with a 36-shot lead over the next best team, Heidelberg.
Top Individual: Schmeltz and Madison Sharek of Geneva each finished as the Franciscan Fall Invitational winners. Each shot an 80 on the afternoon, finishing eight shots over par.
Up next: Women's golf expects to return to the course on Saturday (Oct. 4) for the Beaver Fall Classic in Bluffton, Ohio. Golfers are scheduled to tee off at 9:00 a.m.
