Men’s Golf Finishes Second at the 2025-26 PAC Championships

BOARDMAN, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson College men's golf team remained in second place during the 2025-26 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships. The team shot a combined 616 through the final two rounds after battling back and forth with Allegheny.
 
The Basics
Tournament: PAC Spring Championships
Location: Boardman, Ohio / Mill Creek G.C. (North Course)
W&J: 2nd out of 10
 
Top W&J Individual: Matthew Morelli (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) and William Ainsworth (Woldingham, Surrey/Reigate Grammar School) each finished as the Presidents' top golfers. Both finished in a tie for fifth place, earning both Presidents an All-PAC First Team selection. The golfers shot a 300 through all four rounds, seeing Ainsworth make the jump to the top five following a score of 73 in round three.
 
Notables: Alexander Robins (Buckinghamshire, England/Bedford School) finished as the next top golfer for W&J. Robins finished in 24th place and shot a 324 over the four rounds of golf. Luke Eckmann (Clancy, Mont./Jefferson) and Sean Clark (Madison, Wis./Monona Grove) filled in and competed for the Presidents in the spring. Eckmann shot a 152 through the final two rounds with an 18-hole low of 74 on Friday. Clark shot a 79 in both rounds of the spring to help the Presidents battle with the first place Gators.
 
Tournament Highlights
Top Individual: Luke Gronbeck of Grove City won the 2025-26 PAC Individual Championship. Gronbeck shot a 292 through all four rounds of golf, finishing one shot off Christopher Hoffman from Allegheny.  
 
Top Team: Allegheny took home the 2025-26 PAC team title. Four of the Gators finished in the top 10, including a second-place finish from their top golfer. After a competitive spring round, Allegheny bested second place W&J by 22 strokes.
