2025-26 Senior Student-Athlete Award Winners Announced by Department of Athletics

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College Department of Athletics has announced its annual senior award winners for the 2025-26 academic year. The department recognizes both men's and women's recipients of the E. Ronald Salvitti, M.D. Senior Scholar-Athlete Award and Walter C. Cooper Senior Athlete Award.

The Salvitti Award recognizes the top male and female senior scholar-athletes from each school year while the Cooper Award honors the top male and female senior athletes during the campaign. Student-athletes are nominated for these awards by their respective head coaches. Votes are then compiled to determine the recipients of each award.

The 2025-26 Cooper Award recipients are Josh Dezenzo (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) and Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown). Earning the recognition of the 2025-26 Salvitti Award are Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) and Faith Fetsko (Venetia, Pa./South Park).

All four award winners will be honored at the annual W&J College Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on Friday, Sept 11.

Josh Dezenzo (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington)
Dezenzo finished his career as one of the top sluggers in the history of W&J baseball. This past season, Dezenzo became the fifth W&J player to be named PAC Player of the Year award in the last six years. He earned All-America First Team honors from D3baseball.com and All-America Second Team accolades from ABCA/Rawlings. He was selected First Team All-Region 7 by both organizations. He finished the 2026 season batting .407 from the plate with eight home runs, 23 doubles, two triples, 40 RBIs and 12 steals. At the conclusion of the PAC Tournament, Dezenzo led the conference in on-base percentage (.532) and doubles while ranking second in the league in batting average (.423), OPS (1.328) and slugging percentage (.796). Dezenzo also finished as the team leader in runs scored (49) and total bases (110). Dezenzo's 23 doubles this past spring established a new single-season program record. For his career, he also ranked second in home runs (24) and tied for fourth in doubles (42) in program history.

Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown)
Anderson will go down as one of the top women's student-athletes in recent memory after putting together a record-breaking career with the Cross County and Track & Field programs at W&J. Anderson stands alone as the only two-time All-American in W&J Women's Cross Country history. She has participated in six NCAA Championship events overall. Anderson put together a senior year to remember, as she earned All-America First Team honors on three occasions. At the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships in November, Anderson made history by racing to a third-place finish at the event. Her time of 21:13.4 helped her record the best-ever finish by a Presidents' Athletic Conference runner at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Just a few weeks earlier, Anderson battled an illness to help the Presidents make history as a team, as the group earned its first conference title in program history. Anderson finished her Cross-Country career as a two-time All-American, a two-time USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Region Cross Country Athlete of the Year, a three-time All-Region performer and a two-time PAC Runner of the Year. Anderson followed that up with Second Team All-American honors in the 5000 Meters at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in mid-March. Anderson saved her best for last, as she earned two All-America honors at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in La Crosse, Wisc. in May. Anderson placed third in the 10,000 meters and sixth in the 5,000 meters to cement herself as one of the top female athletes in W&J history. Her track career has seen her produce eight school record times. This past spring, Anderson represented W&J as its Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year at the PAC banquet.

Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers)
Cestaro III excelled on and off the track for the Presidents. He was four-year member of both the Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field programs. Cestaro III is a multi-time USTFCCCA All-Region Mid-Atlantic performer. This past indoor season, he earned all-region recognition in the 200 Meters. During his sophomore season, Cestaro III secured All-Region in the 100 Meters. During his career, he had been a part of 13 different top three finishes at respective PAC Championship events. Anthony holds school records in indoor competitions for the 60-meter, 200-meter, 4x400 relay and Distance Medley Relay events. Cestaro III also holds the outdoor school record in the 100 meters. Academically, he was recognized both on the W&J Dean's List and the PAC Academic Honor Roll multiple times. Cestaro III has also been honored as a Beta Scholar. Following his junior and senior seasons, he was selected as a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree. This past spring, Cestaro III represented W&J as its Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year at the PAC end-of-year banquet. Cestaro III graduated with a degree in Biology and a cumulative 3.87 grade-point average.

Faith Fetsko (Venetia, Pa./South Park)
A key contributor over the past four years, Fetsko put together one of the top statistical careers among W&J volleyball athletes in recent decades. Fetsko became only the second player in W&J volleyball history to surpass both the 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs milestones in a career. She joined Jerica Lames '04 as the only two Presidents to accomplish the feat in the rally scoring era (2001-Present). Fetsko finished her W&J career as a four-time All-PAC honoree. She earned All-PAC First Team honors during the 2024 season. This past fall, Fetsko helped lead the Presidents to the spot in the PAC South Division during the regular season. She led the team with 329 kills, averaging 3.32 kills in the 99 sets she played in 2025. Defensively, she racked up 300 digs and 37 blocks during her final campaign in the Red and Black. Fetsko also excelled in the classroom and in the campus community, as she made an impact in many ways. Fetsko was selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team as a senior. She made the PAC Fall Academic Honor Roll all four years. Fetsko received the prestigious Paul Reardon Award at the college's annual Honors Convocation in the spring of 2025. The award is designated for juniors (one male and one female) who exemplify excellence in the classroom and athletics. She finished with a 3.77 cumulative grade-point average as she earned her bachelor's degree in psychology while minoring in communication arts.
