No. 21 W&J takes series from Bethany with 10-3 victory

Box Score WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Jared Baird tossed six scoreless innings and first baseman D.J. Michalski went 3-for-4 with three RBI as No. 21 Washington & Jefferson defeated Bethany 10-3 in PAC baseball action on Sunday afternoon at Ross Memorial Park. 

The Presidents (2-1, 2-1 PAC) take the season series from the Bison (1-2, 1-2 PAC) after the team's split a Saturday doubleheader in Washington. 

Michalski doubled home a pair of runs during a three-run third inning and the Presidents tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth frames for a 5-0 lead.  Michalski added a RBI single in the sixth which extended the lead to 7-0.  W&J was one out away from a shutout before allowing three unearned runs. 

The left-handed Baird limited the Bison to five hits, while Randall Risch, Joe Vita and Alex Carr tossed the final three innings.  Eight different Presidents recorded a base hit, including second baseman Kyle Smith, who went 2-for-2 and scored three times. 

Ryan Bisi (6.0 IP, 7 R, 9 H) suffered the loss on the mound for the Bison, who left 13 men on base.
