WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College swimming & diving teams squared off with Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Chatham in W&J's home dual meet opener on Saturday afternoon.
The President men emerged victorious 79-22 while the women fell 157-68.
Six different men's swimmers collected first-place finishes on Saturday.
Nick Belofsky (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) took home first in the 100 freestyle (52.59) while
Colin Higinbotham (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) won the 50 free (22.60),
Jacob Black (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) finished first in the 200 back (2:30.88) and
Dean Kralic (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) claimed the meet title in the 100 back (58.77).
Mark Nikitine (Easton, Pa./Wilson Area) won the 1,000 yard freestyle in 11:31.84 and
Andrew Ivory (Gibsonia, Pa./Mars) took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.78).
On the women's side,
Sarah Marshall (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and
Kimber Randolph (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) each claimed two individual wins. Marshall was the top finisher in the 100 breast (1:13.17) and 50 free (26.63). Randolph won the 100 back (1:06.17) and 100 fly (1:08.52) events.
Isabella Manzari (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) bested a five-swimmer 100 yard freestyle in 1:00.12 and finished second to Marshall in the 50 free (26.91).
The men's 200 medley relay of Kralic, Ivory, Nikitine and Higinbotham earned 11 points with a 1:50.93 showing.
W&J hosts Pitt-Bradford next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Henry Memorial Natatorium.
