BRADFORD, Pa. -- The men's and women's swimming teams swept Pitt-Bradford in the Paul C. Duke III Aquatic Center Saturday afternoon. The men and women claimed first place in each event as the women won 155-41 and men toppled UPB by a score of 153-50.
Freshman
Morgan McGuire (Friedens,Pa./Somerset) claimed her first two collegiate individual victories. McGuire won the 100 backstroke (1:14.14) and the 200 backstroke (2:39.19).
Kimber Randolph (Greensburg,Pa./Hempfield),
Sydney Neumann (Long Beach, Calif./Millikan), and
Taylor Newton (Olyphant,Pa./Scranton) each claimed two individual wins alongside McGuire. Randolph touched first in the 100-yard breaststroke with her time of 1:18.13 and the 100-yard butterfly by clocking in a 1:09.47. Neumann claimed the 200-yard freestyle (2:14.06) and 500-yard freestyle (5:59.87). These are Neumann's first collegiate wins in events other than breaststroke. Newton remained unbeaten in the distance freestyle events as she won the 1650-yard freestyle in 20:22.95 to go along with a win in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.82).
Nathan Smith (Fort Defiance, Va./Fort Defiance),
Matt Allgeier (Port Matilda,Pa./State College Area),
Dean Kralic (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside), and
Colin Higinbotham (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) each claimed two individual wins on the men's side of the ledger. Smith won the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.83) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.91). Allgeier swept the breaststroke events for the second time this season, as he clocked in at 1:15.06 in the 100-yard breaststroke and posted a new personal-best time of 2:40.10 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Kralic took top points in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.17) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:38.00) while Higinbotham claimed the 100-yard freestyle (51.38) and 100-yard butterfly (55.48).
Sarah Marshall (North Wales,Pa./North Penn),
Kate McKiernan (Columbus, N.J./Pennington), and
Ainsley Huang (Portola Valley, Calif./Summit Prep) all finished the afternoon with one individual first place finish. Marshall won the 50-yard freestyle with her time of 26.80, while McKiernan claimed the 200-yard breaststroke at 3:10.46 and Huang picked up the win in the 200-yard individual medley (2:30.65).
Andrew Ivory (Gibsonia, Pa./Mars),
Nick Belofsky (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora), and
Warren Huang (Chino Hills, Calif./Chino Hills) took top points in one individual event for the Red & Black. Ivory claimed the 1650-yard freestyle by one minute and 39 seconds (19:20.72), Belosky picked up the 50-yard freestyle clocking in a 24.49, while Huang took top points in the 200-yard individual medley (2:24.00).
The women quartet of McGuire,
Mekkiye Ergun (Chicago,Ill./Lake View), Newton, and Neumann finished the evening with a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
W&J will have a bye week before returning back to Henry Memorial Natatorium on Saturday, December 4 to host the Saint Vincent Bearcats for a PAC meet, which is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
