WASHINGTON, Pa. --
Megan Foster, head coach of the Washington & Jefferson College tennis programs, was recently featured in an article by the United States Tennis Association.
The article centers around Foster's role as a collegiate coach and also her role in growing the game of tennis at all levels in the surrounding community. Foster has worked with the USTA to turn W&J's home court, the Janet Swanson Tennis Center, into a community hub where tennis can make an impact on those of all ages.
Foster developed her vision and teamed with the USTA to make her goals a reality, as she was able to bring live to the Swanson Tennis Center.
Foster's vision included:
- Collaborate with the LeMoyne Community Center – A new NJTL (National Junior Tennis and Learning) chapter that is within walking distance to the courts
- Hold USTA Junior Tournaments
- Host a Coaching Essentials Workshop, to get her entire team and motivated high school students certified as teaching professionals
"We're thrilled with the progress and with the impact we could make locally here through tennis," Foster said. "Being able to connect to kids in our community and see the looks on their faces as they learn tennis has been amazing. I'm so proud of everyone here for the work they've done.
