WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's swimming & diving squad welcomed the defending Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champions Grove City to the Henry Natatorium for W&J's final home dual meet of the season.
W&J honored its two seniors,
Kaitlyn Ewing (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) and
Kiera MacWhinnie (South Portland, Maine/Waynflete School), prior to the meet.
Grove City took home the team victory with a 124-92 final score.
Freshman diver
Taylor Weyrich (McMurray, Pa./Seton LaSalle) stole the show with first-place finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Weyrich posted a 256.73 in the 1-meter dive and 232.80 in the 3-meter. She collected multiple 9.0 scores in each event and a season-best 9.5 from the 3-meter board.
Amanda Graves (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) won the 100 yard backstroke with a season-best 1:03.86, the fifth-fastest time in the PAC this season. She added a runner-up finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:16.87, the second-fastest time in the PAC, only behind first-place finisher Rachel Ledford.
Kimber Randolph (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) touched out Grove City's Ellie Dobel in the 100 yard breaststroke with a winning time of 1:17.15. She was also third in the 400 IM at 5:23.29.
Molly Nielsen (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) nearly tracked down Grove City's Rachel Grubbs in the final leg of the 200 medley relay. Nielsen, Graves, MacWhinnie, and
Alyssa Broach (Caledonia, Mich./East Kentwood) combined to finish second in the 200 medley relay at 2:03.78. The same grouping finished second in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:52.65.
Nielsen took second in the 50 freestyle (26.10) and 100 freestyle (57.68) events.
The Presidents wrap up their regular season next Friday at Saint Vincent.
