BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Washington & Jefferson women's swimming & diving team cruised to a 160-14 win over Bethany College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference meet Friday evening in West Virginia.
W&J opened the night with a victory in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, as
Kimber Randolph (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield),
Alyssa Broach (Caledonia, Mich./East Kentwood),
Amanda Graves (Irwin, Pa./Penn Trafford) and
Molly Nielsen (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) secured the victory with a time of 2:04.68.
Nielsen added victories in the 200 Freestyle (2:12.90) and the 100 Freestyle (58.27) to cap an impressive first week for the Red and Black.
Randolph and
Kaitlyn Ewing (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) finished 1-2 in the 100 Backstroke, with respective times of 1:09.18 and 1:18.41.
Broach tallied her first collegiate first place individual finish in the 100 Breaststroke (1:22.75). Later on in the meet, she added a first place finish in the 200 Breaststroke.
Graves secured a first place performance in the 50 Free, as the first-year posted a time of 27.20. Graves later recorded a time of 1:06.52 in the 100 Butterfly.
Taylor Weyrich (McMurray, Pa./Seton LaSalle) registered nine points with a first place finish in the one-meter diving. The Presidents' rookie finished with a final score of 209.55.
Kierra MacWhinnie (South Portland, Maine/Waynflete School) was first in the 200 Backstroke, as the senior logged a time of 2:31.07.
W&J capped the evening with a top time in the 200 Free Relay. The quartet of Nielsen, Broach, MacWhinnie and Graves compiled a time of 1:52.09.
The Presidents return to the pool on Friday, Feb. 12 when they host Grove City at 6 p.m. W&J will recognize its senior class (Ewing and MacWhinnie) prior to the meet.
