CANONSBURG, Pa. --
Juan Caputi (Bogota, Colombia / Colegio Los Nogales) finished as the individual medalist at the annual Peter C. Rossin Memorial Invitational, which was hosted by W&J Monday at Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg.
Caputi registered a round of 79 to tie for first place with Westminster's Brendan Shaughnessy. Caputi won medalist honors due to tiebreaker criteria.
Ben Peticca (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) finished in third place with a 18-hole score of 80.
Garrett Barilar (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia), who was the Rossin Invite medalist in the fall of 2019, finished in seventh place with an 82.
Dawson Thornton (Mooresville, N.C./Pinelake Prep) and
Sean Adamski (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area) rounded out the competitors for W&J. Thornton tied for 22nd with a 94 while Adamski placed 25th with a 104.
Westminster won the team title with a score of 327. W&J finished eight shots off the pace in second place with a team total of 335. Saint Vincent was third (346) followed by Waynesburg (353) and Grove City (360).
W&J returns to competition at the annual PAC Championships. The year's two championship rounds are slated for Monday, April 19 and Saturday, April 24. The first round will be played at Avalon Lakes in Warren, Ohio. The second round will be played at the Speidel Golf Club's Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed course in Wheeling, W.Va. The winner of the PAC Championship will receive the conference's automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.
