WARREN, Ohio -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's golf team sits in second place in the team standings after Monday's opening round of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships. The opening 18 holes were played at Avalon Lakes Golf Course in Vienna, Ohio.
Leading the way thus far for W&J is senior
Garrett Barilar (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia). Barilar is tied for third place after an opening round score of 72.
Juan Caputi (Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Los Nogales) is five shots off the lead after carding an opening round of 74 to finish in fifth place.
Not far behind is
Ben Peticca (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional), who finished his first round with a 76 to finish seventh.
Dawson Thornton (Mooresville, N.C./Pinelake Prep) is tied for 13th after finishing his opening round with an 80.
Sean Adamski (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area) sits in 15th place after posting a score of 81.
W&J compiled a team score of 302, which currently ranks them second among six competing teams. The Presidents are nine shots behind first place Westminster College. Grove City (308) is in third place while Thiel (330), Saint Vincent (343) and Waynesburg (349) round out the team standings.
The final 18 holes of the PAC Championship will be contested at Speidel Golf Club at Oglebay Golf Resort on Saturday, April 24.
