WHEELING, W.Va. -- Senior
Garrett Barilar (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) captured Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year honors and the Washington & Jefferson College men's golf team finished second overall at the 2020-21 PAC Golf Championships as the second and final round was played at Oglebay Resort's Speidel Golf Club on Saturday.
As a team, W&J finished at plus-45 621 (302-319) to finish second behind Westminster's team score of 599 (293-306). The Presidents' had four players named All-PAC, including the PAC Player of the Year for the second season in a row.
Barilar captured medalist honors at the PAC Championship with a two-round total of 147 (72-75). Barilar entered the day tied for third and was three shots back of the leader after 18 holes and finished one stroke (plus-three) ahead of runner-up Michael Bell (69-79) of Westminster.
Barilar shot a plus-three 75 in Saturday's round. His day was highlighted by an eagle on the par-four, 413 yard ninth hole. He parred eight holes and birdied three of the four par-five holes in the round.
Juan Caputi (Bogota, Colombia, Colegio Los Nogales) tied for sixth to earn All-PAC Second Team status. He shot an 80 (plus-eight) on Saturday to finish at 10 strokes over par, 154 (74-80).
Ben Peticca (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) and
Dawson Thornton (Mooresville, N.C./Pinelake Prep) each secured All-PAC Honorable Mention laurels as Peticca finished 11
th and Thronton was 14
th. Both players shot a plus-10 82 on Saturday. Peticca finished 14 strokes over par (158, 76-82) while Thornton was 18 strokes over par (162, 80-82).
Sean Adamski (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area) rounded out W&J's group with a total score of 170 (81-89) to finish plus-26. Adamski was also the Presidents' representative on the PAC Sportsmanship Team.
