NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's golf team opened its season with a third-place team finish at the Westminster Spring Invitational on Monday.
Six different Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) schools sent golfers to the par-72 Avalon Field Club at New Castle.
The Presidents finished third with a total of 323 strokes (plus-35). Westminster College won the event with 310 strokes (plus-22). Westminster's Cal Cummins took home Medalist honors with a five-over par 77.
Senior
Ben Peticca (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) paced the Presidents with an 18-hole score of 78 (plus-six) to tie for fourth in the 35-golfer field.
Senior
Garrett Barilar (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) shot a seven-over par 79 to finished tied for seventh.
Junior
Juan Caputi (Bogota, Colombia, Colegio Los Nogales) tied for 16th at 82 strokes.
Sophomore
Dawson Thornton (Mooresville, N.C./Pinelake Prep) took 10th with a plus-12 84.
Freshman
Sean Adamski (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area) shot an 88 in his collegiate debut to finish tied for 25th.
