INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Washington & Jefferson College women's lacrosse team will face Skyline Conference Champion Farmingdale State in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday, May 8. The match, which will start at 4:30 p.m., will be hosted by Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va.

The 37-team bracket for the Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship was revealed with a NCAA selection show on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. The winner of the matchup between W&J and Farmingdale State will advance to the third round to take on the winner of No. 4 Salisbury University (15-0) and Morrisville State (7-2), who will match up at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The third round will take place at Washington & Lee on Saturday, May 15.

W&J will be making its second NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. The Presidents first appeared in NCAAs back in 2017 after winning the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC).

The Presidents improved their record to 10-0 with a dominant 18-3 victory over Thiel College in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament Championship match on Saturday afternoon at Alexandre Stadium. Sophomore attack Amanda Effland tallied a game-high nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) in the victory over the Tomcats. Freshman goalkeeper Kaitlyn Brown (Charlotte Hall, Md./La Plata) made 10 saves.

Farmingdale State (8-0) earned its fourth Skyline Conference title with a narrow 11-10 victory over Merchant Marine in the championship match on Saturday. Senior attack Courtney Gendels earned Skyline Offensive Player of the Year laurels after tallying 53 points (40 goals) for the Rams.

Thirty-three conferences have been awarded automatic qualification for the championship. One team has been selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final three berths are reserved for Pool C, which includes the remaining institutions in conferences with automatic qualification that are not the conference champion plus remaining independents and members of non-qualifying conferences.

Five first-round games will be conducted Saturday, May 8 with the winners advancing to the second round. Sixteen second-round games will be conducted on Saturday and Sunday May 8-9 with the winners advancing to one of four regional sites Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16. Winners of the four regionals will advance to the semifinals and final, which take place Saturday and Sunday, May 22-23 at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Virginia. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the City of Salem will serve as hosts for the semifinals and championship.
