ERIE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College men's water polo traveled to Erie to take on Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) East division foes this past weekend.
The Presidents dropped all three matches. On Saturday, W&J fell by a 19-8 score to Augustana to open the weekend. The Presidents were narrowly defeated by Penn State Behrend by a 20-16 score. W&J suffered a 14-9 defeat to Austin College in the weekend finale on Sunday.
Augustana 19, W&J 8
Augustana took control early and led 7-1 after the first quarter en route to the victory.
Kailer Spicer (East Lansing, Mich. / East Lansing) finished with a team-high three goals in the loss.
Penn State Behrend 20, W&J 16
AJ Alderman (Camp Hill, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) and
Chris Edwards (Bexley, Ohio / St. Charles Prep) both recorded five-goal efforts in the loss to the Lions.
Lazar Marsenic (Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) and
Elijah Muzzi (Honolulu, Hawaii / Punahou) contributed a pair of goals against Penn State Behrend.
W&J raced out to a 3-1 lead in the first quarter. The Presidents eventually carried a 5-4 lead into the second quarter after a late first quarter score by Alderman.
Edwards opened the second quarter with a goal before Behrend took control. The Lions outscored the Presidents 7-3 in the frame to take a 11-8 lead into halftime.
Behrend continued to lead throughout the second half. W&J crept to within a single goal late in the fourth when
Aidan Miller (Grove City, Ohio / St. Charles Prep) scored to cut the deficit to 17-16. PSB scored the final three goals by

The two teams were tied at 4-4 at halftime. However, a big third quarter by Austin helped the 'Roos take control of the match. Austin scored six of the next eight goals in the third to take a 10-6 lead into the fourth.
Edwards once again paced the Presidents' offensive efforts. The senior finished with a team-high three goals in the loss. Alderman and Spicer recorded two goals apiece.
