NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Washington & Jefferson indoor track & field teams posted several top finishes Friday evening at the Muskingum Meet #4 which was hosted by Muskingum University in Ohio. W&J recorded five event winners and nine event runner-ups at the meet.
The W&J men posted a runner-up finish in the team standings with 105 points. Meanwhile, the women's team performed strongly as well, as they registered 60 points to finish third.
Women's Recap
Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) collected a victory for W&J in the 60-meter hurdles. Stroup raced to a personal-best time of 9.40 to take the top spot. Stroup tallied a fourth-place effort in the 60 meters with a time of 8.24 earlier in the day. That time ranks as fifth best in program history.
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) and
Chloe LoCastro (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) tallied top five finishes in the 800 Meters. Carr finished as the runner-up with a time of 2:27.80. LoCastro was fourth at 2:39.07.
Sarah Schneider (Warren, Ohio/Lordstown) placed second In the Long Jump with a mark of 5.02 meters (16'5.75") and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.24. That mark ranks seventh best all time.
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) logged a seventh-place effort in the 200 Meters. Trusler posted a time of 28.31.
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) finished second in the Triple Jump at 10.00 meters (32'9.75"). That mark is a season best and ranks third in the PAC this season.
Morgan Pender (Saxonburg, Pa. / Knoch) paced the Presidents in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.70 meters.
Sarahgrace Porter (Charleroi, Pa. / Charleroi) led W&J in the Weight Throw with a toss of 10.01 meters.
The Distance Medley Relay team captured first place with a new school record time. The quartet of
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio / Lake Ridge Academy), Trusler, LoCastro and Carr timed in at 12:53.38 to take the top spot. That time is the best in the PAC this season.
Men's Recap
The Presidents captured the top two spots in the 400 Meters.
Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) continued his stellar freshman campaign with a first-place personal best time of 51.54. His teammate,
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour), was second at 52.16.
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) won the 60-meter hurdles with a top time of 8.68.
His teammate,
Karson Kline (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield), finished third with a time of 9.17. Kline was also sixth in the 60 Meters with a season-best time of 7.34.
Riley Runyon (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) logged a runner-up effort in the 800 Meters. He posted a time of 2:02.01 in the event. Runyon also paced the Presidents in the 200 Meters. Runyon ran to a time of 25.04.
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth-Center) was fourth in the 1000 Meters, as he finished with a time of 2:38.03. That time ranks second best in W&J history.
Raine Gratzmiller (Butler, Pa./Butler) was sixth in the Mile Run with a season-best time of 4:44.60.
Paul Collier (Heath, Ohio/Heath) finished third in the 3000 Meters at 9:54.92.
W&J was first in the Distance Medley Relay, as the quartet of Paul, Baughman,
Brock Pennington (North East, Pa./North East) and Sinclair logged a winning time of 10:27.49. That time ranks as the second best in program history.
Declan Fricko (New Bethlehem, Pa. / Redbank Valley) was second in the High Jump with a mark of 1.75 meters (5'8.75").
Andrew Bauer (Johnstown, Pa. / Richland) finished second in both the Triple Jump (12.31 meters – 40'4.75") and the Long Jump at 5.90 meters (19'4.25"). Both marks are personal bests for Bauer.
Dawson Dietz (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) registered a mark of 11.07 meters (36'4") in the Shot Put.
W&J heads to the Presidents' Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Thursday, Feb. 23. The event will be held at the WATTS Training Site on the campus of Youngstown State University. The event will get under way at 11:30 a.m.
