GREENWOOD, Ind. – Four members of the Washington & Jefferson College women's cross country and track & field programs were recognized with Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators. The organization announced the list of honorees on Tuesday afternoon.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Track & Field / Cross Country Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All- America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All- America® honorees will be announced July 9-10. The women's honorees will be released on July 9 while the men's list will be unveiled a day later on July 10.
Receiving the honors for the women's team were
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown),
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard),
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) and
Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata).
This marks the second-straight year that Carr, Hartner and Stroup received All-District honors. Carr was a third-team CSC Academic All-American last year.
Eligible nominees will be based off of
TFRRS performance list rankings at the time of nomination. Note: ONLY INDIVIDUAL TOP 50 PERFORMANCES ARE TO BE USED FOR ELIGIBILITY.
If a student-athlete has participated in a Relay Event which is ranked in the Top 50, that can bolster a nomination but the basic criteria to be met is for Individual performances. You cannot use a relay Top 50 performance as the basis for eligibility.
In addition, student-athletes must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher and be a sophomore, junior or senior.
