Hartner competes in 400 Hurdles at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Washington & Jefferson College senior Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) had her storybook season come to an end Thursday evening when she participated in the prelims of the 400 Hurdles at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The championships are being held Thursday through Saturday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Competing in Heat 2 of 3 Thursday evening, Hartner logged a time of 1:04.60 in the event. Competing against the best in Division III, Hartner finishes 20th among the 22 qualifying athletes in the event. The top eight finishers from Thursday move on to Saturday's finals.

Hartner, who captured individual titles in both the 100 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles earlier his spring at the 2024 PAC Championships, was making her first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Hartner made a late push to qualify for the NCAA Championships after posting a personal-best time of 1:02.55 at the Mount Union Last Chance Meet on May 16. Hartner had entered that event ranked 38th in the country but rose to 15th best with that time.

Head Coach Andy Upton on Jadyn Hartner
I am extremely proud of Jadyn and what she has accomplished this year. She has been one of the most coachable athletes I've ever been around and she works as hard as possible every time she steps on the track. On top of her work ethic and her God given ability, she is also one of the nicest people I've ever met.  I couldn't be more happy for a person than I am for her. To see her qualify with the 15th fastest time in the country with her back against the wall in her very last opportunity was a special sight to see and one I'll never forget. Easily one of the greatest moments I've witnessed in my career. In a conference full of some big names on the women's side, she set a goal to be in that conversation with not only the best in the conference but also the best in the nation. I think she accomplished that."
