Paul sets school record as Presidents post several strong performances during Spring Break at CMU, Bethany Invites

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College outdoor track & field team posted several standout performances this weekend as they had team members compete at the Carnegie Mellon University and Bethany College Invitationals. 
 
Carnegie Mellon Invitational 
 
Men's Recap
 
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) picked right up where he left off during the outdoor season. Baughman raced to a time of 15.09 in the 110 hurdles, which ranks third in school history and eighth currently in Division III. Baughman also logged a time of 54.99 in the 400 Hurdles, which puts him second in school history and ninth In NCAA Division III. Baughman finished third in the 110 hurdles and second overall in the 400 hurdles, respectively.
 
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) raced to a school record time of 1:55.83 in the 800 Meters. He also finished with a personal-best time of 15:46.20 in the 5K, which ranks seventh in program history. His time in the 800 Meters put him fifth overall in a strong field at CMU. Paul currently ranks 27th in NCAA D-III in the 800. 
 
On Friday evening at CMU, Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler) time in at 9:55.43 to finish eighth in the 3000-meter Steeplechase. The time was the best in a season-opener in Dressler's career and currently ranks him 29th in NCAA Division III. 
 
Women's Recap
 
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown) continued her excellent freshman campaign with a pair of strong finishes at CMU. Anderson finished fourth overall in the 5K with a time of 18:02.21, which ranks as second best in W&J outdoor history. Anderson also logged a time of 2:25.09 in the 800 Meters, which ranks fifth best in program history. Anderson currently ranks 20th in NCAA D-III in the 5K. 
 
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) raced to a pair of lifetime bests. Her time of 18:19.98 is third all-time at W&J in the 5K and her time of 2:21.73 is fourth best all-time in the 800 Meters. Carr finished sixth in the 5K and 12th in the 800, respectively, in loaded races at CMU. Carr currently ranks 29th in the 800 and 37th in the 5K in D-III. 
 
 
Bethany Invitational 
 
Men's Recap
 
Andrew Bauer (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) placed fourth in the Long Jump. His mark of 6.21 meters was the best among Division III competitors at the event. 
 
Daniel Deal (Butler, Pa./Knoch) finished third in the 3000-meter Steeplechase with a time of 10:50.48. 
 
Women's Recap
 
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) finished as the runner-up in the 400 Meters with a time of 61.49
