NEW ORLEANS, La. – Six Presidents earned recognition from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on the All-Mid-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Teams which were announced Wednesday (March 11).
The top-8 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-8 relay teams. The regions used for this award – East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West – match those used during the cross country season.
The W&J women had four members be announced as All-Region athletes including
Claire Anderson (Jamestown, Pa./Jamestown),
Maria Gilles (North Ridgeville, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy),
Cali LaRue (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) and
Myleigh Mashburn (Monongahela, Pa./Ringgold).
All four of the women's All-Region selections qualified in the women's distance medley relay. Their top mark came at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. The unit finished first in the event with a new PAC and W&J record time of 12:14.84. The team's best time finished sixth in the region.
Anderson was announced as an All-Region selection in the DMR, 3,00-meter run and the 5,000-meter run. Anderson finished second in the region in the 5k and third in the region in the 3k. Anderson will be representing W&J in her second Indoor National Championships appearance in her career. Anderson logged a qualifying time in the 5,000-meter run with a program-record time of 16:48.20 at the GVSU Holiday Open hosted by Division I Grand Valley State. The senior bested all runners in her heat, finishing first against top Division III talent and Division I runners. Her top time in the 3k came at the Penn State University Sykes & Sabock Challenge, finishing with a time of 9:41.89.
Anthony Cestaro III (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers) and
Nick DeSanto (Erie, Pa./McDowell) represent the W&J men's team.
Cestaro III was credited with an All-Region selection for his efforts in the 200-meter dash. The senior sprinter finished eighth in the region with his best mark being ran at the PAC Indoor Championships. Cestaro III sprinted his way to a time of 22.02 to finish third.
DeSanto finished fourth in the region in high jump to earn All-Region. DeSanto broke the W&J high jump record two times this season at the GVSU Holiday Open and the PAC Indoor Championships. His top mark of the season came at the conference championships with a third-place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.99m (6' 6.25").
Anderson is set to compete in Birmingham on Friday (March 13) at 4:45 p.m. in the 5K at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Indoor Championships.
