GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College outdoor track & field team opened a busy week of competition Wednesday when they competed at the Grove City College Mini-Meet, which was held at Robert E. Thorn Field in Mercer County.
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) highlighted W&J's representation at the event. Carr ran to a first place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a career best time of 11:55.01.
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) finished as the runner-up in the 400 Meters (1:00.78 - season best). Trusler added a 10th place finish in the 200 Meters (27.20 - career-best).
Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) finished with a time of 15.99 in the 110-meter hurdles.
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry) finished seventh in the Long Jump with a mark of 4.90 meters (16'1"). Hartner also was eighth in the 400 Meters with a time of 1:04.34.
On the men's side,
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) led the way with a runner-up effort in the Long Jump. Sciarro registered a season-best leap of 6.94 meters in the event.
Brock Pennington (North East, Pa./North East) raced to a second place finish in the 1500 Meters. Pennington produced a time of 4:09.81 in the event, as he just narrowly missed his personal best time.
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth Center) was fifth in the 1500 Meters. Sinclair logged a time of 4:13.91 in the 1500.
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) was fourth in the 400 Meters with a time of 51.52.
Karson Kline (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) finished ninth in the 100 Meters. The freshman had a time of 11.85. Kline registered a time of 16.62 to finish seventh in the 110-meter hurdles.
The men's 4x4 relay team of Pennington,
Raine Gratzmiller (Butler, Pa./Butler), Sinclair and Baughman finished with a season-best time of 3:39.62.
W&J returns to action on Saturday, April 8 at the Westminster College Invitational.
