Washington, PA (October 9, 2025) — Washington & Jefferson College hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for the James David Ross Family Training Center on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. This is an innovative new athletic facility designed to elevate the training, development, and year-round performance of the College's baseball and softball student-athletes.

This major project is made possible through the generosity of David Ross and the Ross family, whose leadership gift reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the W&J student experience through strategic campus investments.

"The James David Ross Family Training Center is a transformational step forward for W&J," said Dr. Elizabeth MacLeod Walls, president of Washington & Jefferson College. "This facility represents more than bricks and mortar—it symbolizes our deep commitment to the holistic development of our student-athletes. We are honored to partner with the Ross family, whose generosity and forward-looking vision will strengthen not only our athletic programs but the broader student experience for years to come."

The Center will provide a modern, dedicated indoor space for student-athletes to train year-round—reinforcing W&J's investment in competitive excellence, wellness, and student success. The project also represents the first new athletics construction at the College in more than a decade.

We anticipate that construction will begin sometime this fall.
