WASHINGTON, Pa. - Washington & Jefferson College baseball senior captain
Jacob LaDuca (Clarence, N.Y./Canisius) was selected to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week List as the top shortstop in Division III baseball this past week, announced by the organization Wednesday (March 19).
The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its fourteenth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors. This is the fifth Team of the Week of the 2025 season.
This mark LaDuca's second-career appearance on a D3Basebal.com Team of the Week. The last time the stellar shortstop appeared on the list was during his sophomore campaign (February 22, 2023).
LaDuca dominated offensively for W&J on their Florida trip, helping the Presidents close with a 4-1 record last week. The senior captain posted a .500 batting average (8-for-16), tallied eight hits, hit two doubles, batted in four runs, stole three bags and smashed one home run on the week. In a doubleheader with Marymount (Receiving Votes), LaDuca scored twice and stole a base in game one and then had a double and two RBIs in game two, as W&J completed the sweep. Against UMass Dartmouth, LaDuca started a 4-for-4 game with a first-pitch home run in the top of the first and added two doubles, a walk and four runs scored with one RBI. After adding a base hit against No. 17-ranked Rowan, LaDuca capped the trip with a 2-for-3 outing against Saint Joseph (Conn.), smacking his first triple of the season for one RBI with two walks and two stolen bases.
W&J Baseball manages a rapid turnaround back in Division III play against nonconference foe Marietta on Wednesday (March 19). Opening pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
