TRAFFORD, Pa. – Washington & Jefferson College men's golfers Matthew Morelli (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) and Shane Williams (Peters Township, Pa./Peters Township) have been selected as the Presidents' Athletic Conference Golfer and Newcomer of the Week, announced by the conference on Tuesday (Sept. 16). 

Morelli was the Presidents' top player at the three-day Malone-Glenmoor Invitational.  He opened with a one-over 73, highlighted by five birdies in the round before shooting a steady 75 in the second round.  Morelli finished in a tie for 25th place out of 72 players with a three-day total of 228. 

Williams worked his way to a tie for 39th place at the Malone-Glenmoor Invitational.  The freshman shot a 234 over three rounds of golf, which featured an opening round 76 with one birdie and 14 pars.

The Presidents will have a short break and will return at The Gauntlet.  This two-round event will take place on Sunday (Sept. 21) and Monday (Sept. 22) at Bucknell Country Club in Lewisburg, Pa.
