Swimming & Diving Earns Three PAC Weekly Honors

TRAFFORD, Pa. – Three members of the Washington & Jefferson College Swimming & Diving Teams earned Presidents' Athletic Conference weekly honors, as announced by the conference on Monday (Jan. 12).
 
Junior Maddie Malone (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) has been selected as the PAC Women's Swimmer of the Week. Malone led the W&J women in victories against Chatham and Franciscan by logging first place finishes in all her respective events. Malone took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.53), the 100 free (1:01.69) and the 400 IM (5:22.62).
 
Junior Daniel Jeffries (Irwin, Pa./Hempfield Area) has been chosen as the PAC Men's Swimmer of the Week. Jeffries helped lead W&J to a 221-48 victory over Chatham by placing first in all three of the events he competed in. Jeffries won the 100 free and the 100 back with respective times of 48.96 and 56.90. Jeffries also swam laps in the 200 free relay for the Presidents that finished first with a time of 1:31.16.
 
Finally, freshman Mackenzie Caron (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) has been selected as the PAC Women's Newcomer of the Week. This is the fourth time this season that Caron has been chosen for this award. Caron won all her respective events in victories against Chatham and Franciscan, taking individual victories in the 50 free (26.48) and in the 200 breaststroke (2:38.82). She also helped Presidents win both the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay with respective times of 2:02.01 and 1:51.46. 
 
The W&J divers return to action on Friday (Jan. 16) for the annual Rich Sentner Diving Invitational hosted by Westminster.
