Men’s 200 Freestyle Relay Breaks Decade-Old Record on Day Three of PAC Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College swimming & diving teams concluded day three of the 2025-26 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Grove City College.
 
The highlight of the night for both teams was the men's 200-yard freestyle relay team breaking a program record from the 2015 season. The squad consisting of Daniel Jeffries (Irwin, Pa./Hempfield Area), Corbin Likar (Amity, Pa./Trinity), Brian Lowry (Wenonah, N.J./Gloucester County Institute of Technology) and Aiden Marks (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) raced their way to a second-place finish with a new school record time of 1:24.64. The previous record-holding unit from 2015 had a top time of 1:25.72 in the event.
 
After a dominant victory in the 3-meter dive a day ago, sophomore diver Zach Lloyd (Dillsburg, Pa./Lloyd Academy (Homeschooled)) repeated as the 1-meter dive champion to complete the sweep for the second consecutive season. Lloyd performed to a total score of 434.82 in the 1-meter dive. Fellow divers Will Angus (Grafton, W.Va./Grafton), Melvin McRae (Lillington, N.C./Overhills) and Brian Lowry (Wenonah, N.J./Gloucester County Institute of Technology) all picked up crucial points for the Presidents in the 1-meter dive as well.
 
The sophomore trio of March Yuan (Simi Valley, Calif./Oak Park), Micah Lohr (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and Ethan Glessner (McKeesport, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) each picked up third place finishes for the Presidents. Lohr took third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.03. Glessner finished third in the 100-yard backstroke with a mark of 52.37.
 
Along with helping the record-breaking efforts in the 200-yard relay, Jeffries additionally helped the Presidents between the lanes in two individual events. Yuan placed third in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:15.30. Lohr raced to a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.05. Jeffries also took sixth in the 200-yard freestyle with a mark of 1:47.96.
 
Mackenzie Caron (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) headlined the W&J women on day three of the conference championships. The freshman posted her best performance on the day in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.84. She led the Presidents swimmers in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.52 to finish ninth.
 
The relay unit of Sophia Garrett (Cincinnati, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy), Caron, Riley Gutierrez (Deer Park, Texas/Deer Park) and Maddie Malone (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) picked up a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:47.37.
 
Malone and Garrett additionally picked up points for W&J in the individual events. Malone took sixth in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:04.62 while Garrett finished eighth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.56.
 
The W&J swimming & diving teams return to action on Saturday (Feb. 21) for the final day of the 2025-26 PAC Championships. Prelims are set to commence at 10:00 a.m. with finals to follow at 5:15 p.m. in Grove City.
