FULL RESULTSWASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson men's and women's swimming & diving teams split a home meet against York (Pa.) at Henry Memorial Natatorium.
The women improved to 5-1 on the season with a 144-105 win over the Spartans, while the men dropped a 144-118 decision to fall to 2-3.
For the women, W&J's 200 medley relay kicked off the day as
Rachel Murphy,
Ann O'Connor,
Laura Travers and
Rachel Nye won with a time of 2:00.10.
Jessica Sweitzer won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:01.33 and the 500 free in 5:32.52. Murphy was timed at 30.44 in the 50 backstroke to post a .30 win over teammate
Alexis Glenn.
Alexandra Martinez earned the victory in the 100 butterfly in 1:03.04 and the 50 fly at 28.80. Nye sprinted to a 50 free win by .07 in 25.98 and a 100 free win in 57.83.
Alexandra Gartner was best in the 100 backstroke on the day, posting a time of 1:03.74. The women closed the meet with a 200 free relay 1-2 showing with
Madison Babicka, Travers, Nye and Sweitzer earning the 1:44.33 victory.
On the men's side,
Jon Krail and
Josh Emde finished first and second in the 1650 freestyle with times of 17:52.22 and 17:58.25, respectively.
Hayden Young and
Kevin Dunigan went 1-2 in the 100 fly at 57.82 and 58.09.
Matt Noel sprinted to the 50 freestyle crown in 22.93. The guys closed out the afternoon as
Nick Willison,
Ben Henrichs, Noel and
Chris Ratliff posted a .31 win in the 200 free relay at 1:31.27.
In diving,
Jennifer Suder qualified for the NCAA Diving Regionals after provisionally qualifying in the opening meet of the year. The senior recorded a three-meter score of 436.10 on Saturday.
Josh Vasko provisionally qualified for regionals with a one-meter score of 428.25.
W&J is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 22 with a non-conference dual meet at Pitt-Bradford slated for a 1 p.m. start.
