Jennifer Suder recorded a pool record score in the three-meter dive to highlight the Presidents' competition against Wheeling Jesuit on Senior Day at the Henry Memorial Natatorium.
Suder's score of 492.30 on the three-meter board broke the previous pool record of 475.45, which she set in 2013. She also holds the school record in the event at 513.45 from last season.
Both W&J teams dropped the dual meet, with the women falling 145-116 and the men succumbing, 136-124, to the NCAA Division II-Cardinals. The men's race came down to the final event, the 800 freestyle relay, with W&J needing first- and second-place finishes, but claiming second and third.
For the women,
Jessica Sweitzer,
Rachel Murphy,
Jenny Matuszewski and
Laura Travers each won individual events. Sweitzer was victorious in the 200 freestyle in 1:58.82 and Matuszewski earned the win in the 500 free at 5:37.03. Murphy touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke at 1:02.84 and Travers was first in the 100 butterfly at 28.00. The 800 freestyle relay on
Alexis Glenn, Matuszewski, Travers and Sweitzer scored a win with its time of 8:12.80.
On the men's side,
Chris Ratliff was a two-time winner on the day, earning victories in the 100 freestyle (48.54) and 200 freestyle (1:50.38).
Ben Mancini registered a time of 17:29.64 in the 1650 to place first.
Josh Emde claimed the 500 free in 5:07.32.
Nick Willison scored a win in the 100 backstroke with his time of 54.98.
In other exhibition diving action,
Josh Vasko (394.50) and
Haley Ashner (390.45) each competed in the one-meter dive.
W&J will head to Grove City for the Presidents' Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 11-14. Preliminaries begin each day at 10 a.m.
