W&J diving competes at CMU; swimming sweeps dual at Pitt-Bradford

How it Happened: The Washington & Jefferson men's and women's diving teams competed as individuals at the Carnegie Mellon Diving Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19.
 
Top Finishers: Haley Ashner (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) recorded a second-place finish in the one-meter dive (350.15) and a third-place finish in the three-meter dive (321.40). For the men, Theo Skoric (Vanderbilt, Pa./Laurel Highlands) placed second in the one-meter dive (383.20) and placed third in the three-meter dive (284.10).
 
The Rest: Kaitlyn Pawcio (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) finished in third place in the one-meter dive (348.10) and fifth place in the three-meter dive (311.05) while Jacob Beckwith (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt) finished in fifth place in the one-meter dive (147.90).

How it Happened: The Washington & Jefferson men's and women's swimming teams both came away wins on Saturday, Nov. 19, at Pitt-Bradford as the women (7-0) won, 77-49, while the men (3-3) came away with a 134-118 decision.
 
Top Finishers: Chloe Magyari (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) led the women's team with an individual win in the 200 freestyle (2:02.18) and swam the third leg on the victorious 200 medley relay (2:00.56) with Hayley Georgetti (Washington, Pa./Linsly) and Laura Travers (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) swimming the first two legs while Maris Leonard (Pittsburgh, Pa./Greensburg-Salem) anchored. On the men's side, Nicholas Willison (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) led all W&J swimmers with three individual wins in the 50 (22.64) and 500 freestyle (5:03.25) and the 200 backstroke (2:01.89).
 
The Rest: Madison Babicka (Demotte, Ind./Kankakee Valley) tallied a win in the 50 freestyle (25.76) while Rachel Nye (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) won the 100 freestyle (57.73). Jillian McElhaney (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) and Alexis Glenn (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) both recorded one individual win with McElhaney placing first in the 100 backstroke and Glenn winning the 200 butterfly. For the men, Jeremy Glasner (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) won the 200 breaststroke (2:26.52) while Zach Lauer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) won the 100 backstroke (55.03) and anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:33.60), preceded by Ian Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley), Matt Noel (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Owen Hanna (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin)
 
What's Next: The swimming and diving teams will get back in the pool on Saturday, Dec. 3, when they travel to Saint Vincent at 1 p.m. for a Presidents' Athletic Conference dual.
