WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's swimming & diving team earned its third win of the season, a 73-53 decision over Chatham, while the women tied the Cougars, 115-115, in the first Presidents' Athletic Conference meet of the year on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The men's team improves to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the PAC and the women stand at 2-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference.

The men were led by
Zach Lauer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and
Owen Hanna (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) who both won one individual event and helped a relay team to a win as well. Lauer swam to a time of 2:10.14 in the 200 individual medley and swam the first leg for the 200 medley relay followed by
Jeremy Glasner (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area),
Matt Noel (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Hanna which finished in 1:44.19. Hanna placed first in the 200 freestyle (1:55.61).

For the women,
Chloe Magyari (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) posted two individual victories in the 50 (25.20) and 100 freestyles (55.41) followed by anchoring the victorious 200 freestyle relay to close the meet. She was preceded by
Kiera MacWhinnie (South Portland, Maine/Waynflete School),
Alexis Glenn (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and
Jillian McElhaney (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) who combined to finish the relay in 1:44.69.

Ian Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and Noel tallied a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:56.02) and 500 freestyle (23.91), respectively, with Geister earning a win in the 100 butterfly (56.13) along the way.

Glenn finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:04.25) and the 200 freestyle (2:05.81) and MacWhinnie totaled two third place finishes in the 500 freestyle (27.39) and the 100 backstroke (1:08.52).

McElhaney,
Alexandria Daum (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and
Paige Adams (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) all posted one second place and one third place finish for the women.
Kaitlyn Pawcio (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) won both diving events, finishing with scores of 233.85 and 216.05 in the one- and three-meter events, respectively.
Rebecca Kirby (Aliquippa, Pa./Homeschooled) finished up right behind Pawcio in both events to round out the top W&J finishers for the night.

The Presidents will be back in the pool on Saturday, Nov. 4, for a road meet at West Virginia Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m.
