Records fall, multiple Presidents honored on final day of PAC Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Three records fell on the final day of the 2016-17 Presidents' Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships where the Washington & Jefferson men finished fourth out of five with 446.5 points while the women finished in fourth place out of six with 437 points.

Thanks to the accomplishments of the W&J divers, diving coach Vic Galati was named the PAC's Diving Coach of the Year for the seventh consecutive year and the 13th time overall in his career. In addition, the W&J men's swimming & diving team was awarded the PAC Men's Team Sportsmanship Award
 
Theo Skoric (Vanderbilt, Pa./Laurel Highlands) led the way for the men's diving team. Skoric finished first in the three-meter dive with a program record and pool record score of 482.25 after breaking the previous program record of 454.65 and previous pool record of 454.85 with a score of 473.95 in the preliminary round, which also qualified him for the regionals. After all his accomplishments during the season and his strong performances at the PAC Championships, Skoric was named the PAC Men's Diving MVP.
 
Chloe Magyari (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) finished first in the 100 free (52.92) and swam the second leg of the 400 free relay with Alexis Glenn (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley), Madison Babicka (Demotte, Ind./Kankakee Valley) and Rachel Nye (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg).
 
Haley Ashner (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Kaitlyn Pawcio (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) both qualified for the regionals in the one meter dive with respective preliminary scores of 468.60 and 466.95, both nearly clipping the school record of 470.80. Ashner finished as the runner-up in the one-meter diving finals (462.60) while Pawcio finished fourth (449.60) and Riley Williams (Wilkes Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) finished seventh (380.20).
 
On the women's side, Jillian McElhaney (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) finished sixth in the 200 backstroke (2:14.77) and Glenn finished seventh in the event (2:15.67) while Nye took eighth in the 100 freestyle (55.24).
 
For the men, Nicholas Willison (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) broke his own school record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:52.81, edging his previous record by 0.19 seconds. Willison also swam the first leg for the fourth place 400 freestyle relay (3:14.73) with Joshua Emde (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West), Owen Hanna (Reading, Pa. / Governor Mifflin) and Jeremy Glasner (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area).
 
Emde took third in the 1650 free (16:58.08) while Tyler Willison (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) recorded a sixth-place finish in the event (17:18.68).
 
Zach Lauer (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) finished in sixth place in the 200 backstroke (1:56.93) while Glasner and Ian Geister (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) recorded 10th-place finishes in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.50) and 200 butterfly (2:05.47), respectively.
