WASHINGTON, Pa. --
Alexis Glenn (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and
Chloe Magyari (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) both posted four victories as both Presidents' swimming & diving teams competed against Penn State Behrend in nonconference action at the Henry Memorial Natatorium.
The Washington & Jefferson women earned a 139-108 victory to improve to 5-4-1 in dual meets this season, while the men slipped to 4-6 overall after a 168-61 defeat against the Lions.
Glenn and Magyari were the first and third legs, respectively, of W&J's victorious 200 medley relay (1:59.19) to open the action and were joined by
Jillian McElhaney (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) and
Kiera MacWhinnie (South Portland, Maine/Waynflete School). Glenn went on to post individual wins in the 100 backstroke (1:03.45), 200 backstroke (2:18.47) and the 100 butterfly (1:04.83). Magyari swept through the shorter-distance freestyle events, 50 free (25.58), 100 free (57.06) and 200 free (2:05.19).
Delaney Burke (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) recorded a pair of victories in the pool -- the 100 breaststroke (1:20.23) and the 200 breaststroke (2:55.71).
Kaitlyn Pawcio (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) won both diving events and officially qualified for the NCAA Division III Diving Regionals on the one-meter board with her score of 266.50. She had previously reached the qualifying score against Saint Vincent with a 263.95. This year's diving regional will take place Fri.-Sat., March 2-3 at Ithaca (N.Y.). On the three-meter board on Saturday, Pawcio totaled a 245.20 against the Lions.
The final individual victory of the day for the women came in the 1000 freestyle as
Alexandria Daum (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) clocked a 12:30.98.
For the men,
Jeremy Glasner (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown Area) scored a pair of first-place finishes, touching the wall at 5:25.89 in the 500 freestyle and finishing the 200 individual medley in 2:10.71. The final event of the afternoon, the men's 200 freestyle relay, saw
Owen Hanna (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin),
Matt Noel (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley),
Jared Rebman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) and
Theo Skoric (Vanderbilt, Pa./Laurel Highlands) claim first with a time of 1:37.35.
W&J will recognize the six total senior members of the swimming & diving program before next Saturday's (Jan. 20) 1 p.m. meet against Hiram and Franciscan (women only).
