WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College wrestling team posted a 2-1 day at the Waynesburg Quad on Saturday, picking up a win against Johns Hopkins and a forfeit over Fairmont State.
 
On the mat Saturday, W&J battled to a 28-25 defeat against Messiah before besting Johns Hopkins 30-18.
 
National contender Michael Heinl (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) posted a 2-0 day at 149 pounds. The senior grabbed a pair of bonus point victories with a major decision over Ike Bryner of Messiah and a win via pinfall over Johns Hopkins' Jared Osborne.
 
Jared Walker (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette), the seventh-ranked wrestler at 165 pounds, also collected a pair of wins. He picked up a major decision win over Messiah's Kevin Edwards before earning a 6-3 decision over national contender Dominick Reyes of Johns Hopkins.
 
Alex Donahue (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) went 1-0 at 197 pounds, pinning his Messiah opponent Joe Embleton.
 
Manny Dovshek (Scenery Hill, Pa./Bentworth) earned a win against Johns Hopkins at 125 pounds while Jake Walker (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) pinned his Messiah opponent, Carter Ulrich.
 
The Presidents head to the Baldwin Wallace Invitational next Saturday.
