WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. -- The Washington & Jefferson College track and field teams traveled to West Liberty to compete in the West Liberty Invitational Saturday. The invite consisted of DII and DIII institutions. The men finished fifth overall while the women placed fourth.
Men
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler) won the 3000 meter steeplechase with his time of 10:03.39.
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) won the long jump with his leap of 6.98 meters. This mark ranks him #18 in the NCAA and the top spot in the PAC. Sciarro also recorded a third place finish in the triple jump with his leap of 12.54 meters.
Brock Pennington (North East, Pa./North East) and
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth-Center) both finished inside the top three in the 5000. Pennington ran to a second place finish with a 15:46.16 while Sinclair clocked in a 15:49.62 to claim third. Pennington's time moved the freshman up to number six in program history.
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) finished fifth in the 110 hurdles with a new personal best time of 15.77 seconds. That time ranks Baughman first in the PAC so far this season as he was also the top DIII finisher in that race. Baughman also won the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 57.51.
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) placed third in the 800, recording a time of 2:00.16.
Declan Fricko (New Bethlehem, Pa./Redbank Valley) jumped to a fifth place finish in the high jump with his leap of 1.85 meters.
Sam Garber (Columus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) finished in the top 10 in the 400 meters, clocking in a time of 53.68.
Women
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) took home the gold in the 10,000 with her time of 40:45.72.
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) finished second in the 400-meter dash with her time of 61.15. This time currently sits Trusler at the top of the pack in the PAC. She also finished fourth in the 200-meter dash recording a 27.94.
Faith Remich (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) ran to a third place finish in the 1500 (5:07.08) while teammate
Mackenzie Stevenson (Greenville, Pa./Grenville) ran to a top 10 finish with a 6:18.05.
Taylor Johnson (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) was fifth in the 400 meters with her time of 67.73.
Maddie Simpson (Washington, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) and
Gianna Platt (Pittsburgh, Pa./OLSH) finished in the top 10 for the Red & Black in the javelin throw. Simpson launched a heave of 33.45 to land her in fourth place while Platt recorded a 25.72 to finish in eighth.
Savannah Sevacko (Crafton, Pa./Carlyton) jumped to a sixth place finish in the long jump with her leap of 4.85 meters.
W&J travels to New Wilmington, Pa. on Friday to compete in the Westminster Invitational.
