MORGANTOWN, W.V.A. -- The Washington & Jefferson College track & field teams recorded a very successful day two at the Presidents Athletic Conference Championship Meet. The W&J women finished in third place while the men claimed fourth out of the 10 competing schools at the event.
Women
W&J's 4x4 relay battled to the very last second and won by just .24 milliseconds. The quartet of
Jadyn Hartner (Washington, Pa./Fort Cherry),
Faith Remich (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell),
Taylor Johnson (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell), and
Bre Trusler (Daisytown, Pa./California) recorded a time of 4:08.06 to sneak past the relay team from Grove City.Â
Anna Stroup (Port Royal, Pa./Juniata) broke the 16 second barrier for the first time in the 100-meter hurdles recording a 15.72 and finished as the runner-up in the event. Additionally, Stroup placed fourth in the 100-meter dash with her time of 12.81 seconds. Both times were career bests for Stroup.
Trusler finished as runner-up in the 400 Meters with a time of 61.15. She also scored points in the 200 Meters with her ninth place finish (27.56 - personal best).Â
Hartner placed second in the 400-Meter Hurdles clocking in at 67.91. Hartner also secured a sixth place finish in the 100-Meter Hurdles with her collegiate best time of 17.21 seconds.Â
Remich finished fourth in the 1500 with her time of 4:56.22. Additionally, Remich ran to a sixth place finish in the 800, posting a 2:23.74.
Savannah Sevacko (Crafton, Pa./Carlynton) finished fourth in the long jump with her mark of 4.81 meters.Â
Three throwers scored for the Red & Black in the Javelin.
Maddie Simpson (Washington, Pa./Chartiers-Houston) led the way with a third place finish with her heave of 35.81 meters.
Kiersten Walther (Washington, Pa./Trinity) landed seventh with her mark of 31.18 meters while
Gianna Platt (Pittsburgh, Pa./ OLSH) finished ninth with a throw of 30.15 meters.Â
Cassie Carr (Girard, Pa./Girard) collected five points for W&J by placing fourth in the 5K with a career-best time of 18:33.06.
Ali Petrisek (Ellsworth, Pa./Bentworth) added points for the Presidents in the 400 hurdles with her seventh place finish and a time of 74.16 and Johnson scored in the 400 dash with her career-best time of 63.60 to place eighth.Â
Johnson represented W&J on the PAC Sportsmanship Team following the conclusion of the meet.Â
Men
Nate Sciarro (Beaver Falls, Pa./Riverside) won PAC Most Outstanding Male Field Athlete of the Year from his two first place finishes in the high jump and long jump. Sciarro recorded a school record leap of 1.95 meters in the high jump and added a leap of 6.98 meters in the long jump.
Aden Dressler (Evans City, Pa./Butler) defended his title in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase. Dressler won by more than 20 seconds with his career-best time of 9:57.55.
Declan Fricko (New Bethlehrm, Pa./Redbank Valley) placed second in the high jump with his season-best leap of 1.90 meters.Â
Jake Sinclair (Beallsville, Pa./Beth-Center) finished second in the 5K with a season-best time of 15:48.18 while
Brock Pennington (North East, Pa./North East) landed a sixth place finish recording a 15:56.74.Â
Ian Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford Area) ran to a second place finish in the 110 hurdles with his finals time of 15.37 seconds (career best). Baughman also placed second in the 400 hurdles clocking in with a season-best time of 56.71.Â
Julian Paul (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) finished in fourth place in the 800 with a season-best time of 1:56.65. Paul also added a seventh place finish in the 1500 (4:05.56) while
Clay Yeager (Mifflintown, Pa./Juniata) finished 10th in the 800 (2:01.68) and eleventh in the 1500 (4:13.56).
Max Donaty (Westborough, Mass./Westbourough) represented W&J on the PAC Sportsmanship Team following the conclusion of the meet.Â
W&J will return back to Mylan Park on Saturday, May 7 for the WVU Last Chance Meet.Â
