GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College men's tennis team registered an 8-1 win over host Thiel College in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match Thursday afternoon.
The win improves the Presidents to 1-3 in the PAC. The Tomcats drop to 0-5 in the conference.
W&J took all three doubles matches and five of the six singles contests.
Alex Duing and
Abhinav Yarramaneni squeezed out an 8-6 win at the top doubles spot.
Jackson Akers and
Connor Simms eased their way to an 8-2 win at second doubles.
Jaren Thimons and
Nate Clarke won by forfeit at third doubles.
Duing won by a 6-2, 6-4 score at No. 2 singles while Yarramaneni won 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 3 position. Clarke rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 spot while Thimons took an easy 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 5 position. Simms won via forfeit at the number-six spot.
W&J continues its busy week Friday when they host Waynesburg University at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
