WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College diving teams competed in the annual W&J Diving Invitational. The field included divers from Carnegie Mellon, Chatham and Division II Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).
Headlining the Presidents efforts was
Zach Lloyd (Dillsburg, Pa. / Lloyd Academy (Homeschooled)). Lloyd took a second-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a total score of 373.15. The regionally qualified diver was only bested by one of the IUP divers in the 1-meter dive. In his first time competing in the 3-meter dive (11 dives), Lloyd took third with a total score of 321.90.
Melvin McRae (Lillington, N.C./Overhills) posted a respectable afternoon for W&J with his top finish coming in the 1-meter dive. McRae logged a total score of 283.55 in the event, besting a diver from IUP and Chatham to place third.
For the W&J women's divers,
Amiyah White (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area) led the way in the 1-meter dive with a total score of 245.00 to place sixth. White finished five total points away from tying the fifth place IUP diver.
Wrapping the divers for W&J was fellow freshman
Caitlin Wiltsey (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) who finished seventh in the 1-meter dive with a total score of 209.15.
The entirety of the W&J swimming & diving teams will manage a quick turnaround with a weekend trip to Latrobe, Saturday (Dec. 7). The meet Is scheduled to commence at 1:00 p.m.
