Swimming & Diving Tops 10 Events Against Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College Swimming & Diving teams dropped bouts to Saint Vincent. The W&J men dropped a close 148-140 decision while the W&J women were defeated 172-110.
 
The W&J men were led by senior captain Logan Marks (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin). Marks logged a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:12.59. He also collected a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.79 and a third-place mark in the 200-IM with a time of 2:06.83.
 
Freshman diver Zach Lloyd (Dillsburg, Pa./Lloyd Academy (Homeschooled)) pocketed his third regionally qualifying score in the 1-meter dive (11 dives) with a total score of 431.47. Melvin McRae (Lillington, N.C./Overhills) followed in second with a total score of 274.64.
 
In his first swimming appearance of the season for W&J, All-MPSF Second Team water polo player Aidan Miller (Grove City, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) logged his first win of the season. Miller took first in the 1,000-meter freestyle with a time of 11:05.19.
 
March Yuan (Simi Valley, Calif./Oak Park) logged three top finishes on the day. Yuan snagged second-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM with respective times of 1:51.82 and 2:06.83. He also registered a third-place mark in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.01.
 
Ethan Glessner (McKeesport, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) posted a respectable day in the lanes for the Presidents. Glessner took second-place marks in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke with respective times of 56.68 and 2:07.85.
 
The relay unit of Daniel Jeffries (Irwin, Pa./Hempfield Area), Glessner, Aiden Filer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township), and Brian Lowry (Wenonah, N.J./Gloucester County Institute of Technology) raced to a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
 
In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Glessner, L. Marks, Micah Lohr (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and Aiden Marks (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) picked up a second-place finish with a time of 1:40.63.
 
Morgan Baughman (West Newton, Pa./Mount Pleasant) led the W&J women with two first place finishes. Baughman took first in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle with respective times of 26.51 and 59.20. She also logged a third-place mark in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:15.18.
 
Sophia Garrett (Cincinnati, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy) also posted a top tier effort in the lanes for the Presidents with two first-place finishes. Garrett finished first in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke with respective times of 1:04.78 and 2:24.32. Garrett also raced to a fourth-place finish in the 200-IM with a time of 2:32.17.
 
Luna Balzano (El Portal, Fla./Broward Virtual School) pocketed a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:32.59. She also collected a fourth-place mark in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:12.84.
 
Amiyah White (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area) led the Presidents divers with a first-place finish in the 1-meter dive (11 dives) with a total score of 258.95. Caitlin Wiltsey (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) finished second with a lifetime best in the 1-meter dive (11 dives) with a total score of 244.56.
 
The relay unit of Garrett, Maddie Malone (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello), Balzano and Baughman finished second in the 200-yard medley relay with a mark of 2:02.09.
 
The Presidents enter a brief pause in competition for their annual training trip which will take place in Sebastian, Fla. Following the team's training trip down south, the Presidents will jump back into action in 2025 with a home meet against Hiram. First event is scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m.
