GROVE CITY, Pa. --
Logan Marks (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) made it a Friday to remember as he captured the 100 Breaststroke title at the 2024 Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships.
Marks secured the title with a time of 55.85 in Friday's finals. Marks bested his next closest competitor by more than a second to claim the title. Marks raced to a school-record time of 55.62 in Friday morning's preliminary round.
"Our team and coaching staff are so proud of Logan for his accomplishments today," W&J head coach
Matt Rochna said. "Earning a team record and a first place overall finish in the PAC in the 100 breast are the natural results for all of the hard work he has put in this season to be at his absolute best when it matters most. We can't wait to watch his 200 breaststroke tomorrow and see what time he is capable of going."
Daniel Jeffries (Irwin, Pa. / Hempfield Area) posted a strong effort in the 100 Back. Jeffries logged a time of 54.70 to finish third in Friday's finals.
Nathaniel Harden (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield Area) earned fifth place in the 100 Breaststroke. The freshman recorded a time of 1:00.18 in the finals.
In the finals of the 200 Free,
Aiden Marks (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) was seventh with a time of 1:50.08 in the event.
In the diving events,
Melvin McRae (Lillington, N.C. / Overhills) finished as the runner-up in the one-meter dives. McRae posted a score of 329.75.
The W&J men finished in fourth in the 400 Medley Relay.
Luna Balzano (El Portal, Fla. / Broward Virtual School) placed fifth in the 100 Fly Friday evening. Balzano raced to a time of 1:02.25 in the finals.
Sophia Garrett (Cincinnati, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy) finished sixth in the 100 Back finals with a time of 1:02.81.
Maddie Malone (Charlottesville, Va. / Monticello) finished eighth in the finals of the 400 IM. Malone posted a time of 5:15.56 in the event.
Through three days of competition, W&J sits in fourth place in the men's standings and sixth in the women's standings.
Saturday is the final day of the PAC Championships. The preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. Senior recognition gets underway at 5 p.m., with the finals starting at 5:15 p.m.
