Men's Tennis gives Coach Lynch first victory with 9-0 win over UPG

WASHINGTON, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 win over Pitt-Greensburg in non-conference action Friday afternoon at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center. 
 
The win was the first for first-year head coach Matt Lynch, who joined the program as its coach in early February. 
 
W&J improves to 3-5 with the win while UPG drops to 2-3 overall. 
 
The Presidents claimed all three doubles matches. Jackson Akers and Alex Duing teamed up to claim the 8-4 victory at the top spot. 
 
Abhinav Yarramaneni and Nick Bussard secured an 8-1 victory at second doubles. 
 
Nate Clarke and Connor Simms took a commanding 8-0 win at third doubles. 
 
Akers won 6-4, 6-0 at first singles while Duing breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at second singles. 
 
Yarramaneni worked the hardest for his victory. He picked up his victory in a third-set tiebreaker by scores of 6-3, 4-6, 10-4. 
 
Clarke swept through the four spot by margins of 6-3, 6-0. 
 
Bussard won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles. Simms won by forfeit at the sixth singles spot. 
 
W&J opens PAC play at Saint Vincent on Sunday, March 24. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
