Lloyd Crowned 1-Meter Diving Champion on Day Two of the PAC Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College swimming & diving teams concluded day two of the Presidents' Athletic Conference swimming & diving championships, hosted by Grove City College. The men remained in second place while the women elevated to sixth.
 
The W&J men were headlined by freshman diver Zach Lloyd (Dillsburg, Pa./Lloyd Academy (Homeschooled)). Lloyd finished the second day of the conference championships with a NCAA regionally qualifying score of 452.10, which crowned him as the 2024-25 PAC 1-Meter Diving Champion. Fellow diver Brian Lowry (Wenonah, N.J./Gloucester County Institute of Technology) finished fourth in the 1-meter dive with a total score of 225.95.


 
The unit of Ethan Glessner (McKeesport, Pa./Elizabeth Forward), Logan Marks (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin), March Yuan (Simi Valley, Calif./Oak Park), and Aiden Marks (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) swam their way to a third-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:31.84.
 
Yuan swam his way to a top finish in the 200-yard IM. The freshman swimmer finished fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:58.62.
 
Aiden Marks headed the men's sprinters in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.96 to place seventh.
 
Brody Souder (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led a grouping of four total Presidents in the 500-yard freestyle with a ninth-place finish with a time of 4:57.46.
 
Luna Balzano (El Portal, Fla./Broward Virtual School) highlighted the W&J women with a career showing in the sprint freestyle. Balzano raced to a lifetime best time of 24.74 in the 50-yard freestyle prelims while notching a 24.91 mark in the A-finals to finish third. Morgan Baughman (West Newton, Pa./Mount Pleasant) followed closely behind with a 12th-place finish and mark of 26.02.
 
The team of Sophia Garrett (Cincinnati, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy), Maddie Malone (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello), Balzano and Baughman raced to a second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:12.39.
 
Taylor Newton (Olyphant, Pa./Scranton Prep) took a 10th-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a lifetime best time of 5:38.68 in the preliminary heat. In the finals, Newton posted a time of 5:39.23 in the B-final.
 
Malone also posted a career performance on the second night of the conference championships. In the 200-yard IM, Malone raced to a lifetime best time of 2:23.61 to take 11th.
 
W&J returns to James E. Longnecker Competition Pool for the third day of the PAC Championships, Friday (Feb. 21). Preliminary events are scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m.
