W&J Rolls Past Case Western Reserve 33-9

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Washington & Jefferson won six of the seven contested bouts and breezed to a 33-9 non-conference wrestling victory at Case Western Reserve Saturday afternoon. 

The win was highlighted by the debut of sophomore 165-pounder Nick Carr, a recent transfer.  Carr, who started his collegiate career at Kent State, recorded a 27-11 technical fall victory over the Spartans' Nick Lees. 

At 133 pounds, freshman Daniel Pommerer earned a 2-0 decision over Jeff Gould, while freshman Lukas Etzel defeated Connor Medlang by the same score at 141 pounds.  

Lukas' older brother, senior 157-pounder Josh Etzel earned an 11-3 major decision at 157 pounds, while freshman Sonnieboy Blanco grabbed a 9-4 at 174 pounds. 

Sophomore 197-pounder Ezekiel Stroupe earned a 13-2 major decision over Dylan Novisky for the Presidents' final win. 

W&J (1-1) will wrestle Thiel in a PAC dual meet in Greenville, Pa., Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
