The Tomcats finished with 46 total points in the match while the Presidents scored 40.Â
Washington & Jefferson earned two wins top open the night with a 6-0 lead after 133.
Seth Carr topped Vince Vahaly at 125 by a 5-1 count to remain a perfect 3-0 in red and black.
Jacob Spearman then earned a 6-2 decision over Trevor Wood to secure three points at 133.
After Thiel captured an 8-2 decision at 141,
Alex Powell won via an 11-6 decision at 149.
Nick Carr, the nation's top wrestler at 157, then posted a 6-3 decision to move the score to 12-3 W&J. Carr improves to 17-0 on the season.
The Tomcats earned a 10-3 decision at 165, but
Declan Haggerty was strong near the end to avoid the major decision (8-14 point win, four team points) and hold off for just a decision (less than eight points, three team points).Â
Sonnieboy Blanco scored a 4-3 decision over Jordan Powell at 174 after losing 2-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference finals to Powell, 2-0, a season ago. Powell also won in the regular season in 2013-14, 9-4.
Trailing, 15-6, with three classes to go, Thiel was able to earn 4-1, 3-0 and 6-2 decisions to tie the match at 15 and subsequently win via tiebreaker, 16-15.
W&J returns to the mat on Saturday, Feb. 7 for the John Summa Invitational at Baldwin Wallace before hosting the 2015 PAC Championships on Friday, Feb. 13. Action begins at 5 p.m.
