Men's Swimming and Diving

W&J Swimming & Diving cruises past Penn State Behrend

How it Happened: The W&J men's and women's swimming and diving teams both secured wins against Penn State Behrend. The men had a final score of 161-111, while the women topped the Lions, 134-91.

Top Performers: Jenny Matuszewski and Alexis Glenn led the women this week, finishing first in all four events that they competed in. Individually Matuszewski competed in the 200 freestyle (2:05.04) and the 100 freestyle (57.76), while also contributing to the winning 200 medley relay (1:57.95) and 400 freestyle relay (3:49.29) teams. In her individual events, Glenn took the 100 backstroke at 1:03.25 and the 200 backstroke at 2:17.25. In the relays, she was a member of the 200 medley and the 400 freestyle. 
 
For the men, Zach Lauer and Nicholas Willison were first in all quadrupole of their events as well. In the 100 backstroke Lauer timed 55.42 and finished at 2:00.81 in the 200 backstroke. Lauer was also a part of the 200 medley relay (1:41.23) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:23.77), along with N. Willison. Individually, N. Willison timed 5:04.10 in the 500 freestyle and 22.85 in the 50 freestyle.

Gordy Schroeder was successful in the 200 freestyle (1:50.62) and the 100 freestyle (50.78), while also sharing the 400 freestyle relay victory.

Amber Miller contributed to W&J's win by capturing a time of 19:48.94 in the 1650 freestyle, 2:37.81 in the 200 butterfly, and 5:54.43 in the 500 freestyle 

In diving, Josh Vasko once again swept the men's events, scoring 243.60 in the one meter and 221.65 in the three meter.

For the women, Kaitlyn Pawcio placed first in the one meter with a score of 201.95, and Haley Ashner took the three meter with a 188.90.

The Rest: Timing 26.06, Madison Babicka was first in the 50 freestyle and also participated in the winning 400 freestyle relay team. Rachel Nye had a pair of relay wins.

Jack King held a 2:05.20 in the 200 butterfly.
 
What's Next: W&J will remain home as they host Franciscan and Hiram for Senior Recognition Day on Saturday, January 23, at 1:00 pm.
