GROVE CITY, Pa. -- For the second time in as many days, Washington & Jefferson College sophomore
Logan Marks (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) earned his place in history with a stellar championship performance at the 2024 Presidents' Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships.
Marks established yet another school record while capturing his second conference title in as many days. Marks swam to a school record time of 2:04.25 to claim the individual title in the 200 Breaststroke in Saturday evening's finale. Marks' time helped her eclipse the previous school record time of 2:06.12 set by Kevin Dunigan which was set at the 2016 PAC Championships. The title was the second in as many days for Marks, who also earned the championship and a new school record in the 100 Breaststroke during Friday's session.
Daniel Jeffries (Irwin, Pa. / Hempfield Area) concluded a strong freshman season Saturday. Jeffries timed in at 2:03.95 to place sixth in the 200 Back.
Aiden Marks (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) raced to a time of 49.37 to finish eighth in the 100 Free.
The event concluded with the 400 Free Relay. The W&J men's squad finished third in the event with a time of 3:18.13.
Logan Marks led off the race and was followed by
Aidan Miller (Grove City, Ohio / St. Charles Prep), Jeffries and
Aiden Marks.
Luna Balzano (El Portal, Fla. / Broward Virtual School) finished fourth in the 200 Fly. The freshman touched the wall in 2:21.85 in the event.
Sophia Garrett (Cincinnati, Ohio / Saint Ursula Academy) matched Balzano for the best individual finish for the W&J women on Saturday. The freshman logged a time of 2:18.19 to put her fourth in the 200 Back.
Morgan Baughman (West Newton, Pa. / Mount Pleasant), another first-year collegiate swimmer, secured eighth place in the 100 Free. Baughman posted a time of 56.85 in the event.
Amanda Graves (Irwin, Pa. / Penn Trafford) concluded her four-year collegiate career Saturday. Graves was ninth in the 200 Back with a time of 2:24.80.
Maddie Malone (Charlottesville, Va. / Monticello) was ninth in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:42.49.
The women capped the four-day championship event by finishing fifth in the 400 Free Relay. The quartet of Garrett, Graves, Baughman and Balzano timed in at 3:53.03 in the event.
The W&J men compiled 423 points to finish fourth in the team standings. The Presidents' women were fifth with 293 points.
Following the conclusion of the championships,
Melvin McRae (Lillington, N.C. / Overhills) and
Taylor Newton (Olyphant, Pa. / Scranton Prep) were honored as W&J's representatives on the PAC Sportsmanship Team.
