GREENWOOD, Ind. -- For a second consecutive year, Washington & Jefferson College's
Maya Krishnasamy (Ventura, Calif./Ventura) earned recognition from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), on the 2020-21 NCAA Division III Academic All-District® At-Large First Team.
Krishnasamy was one of 14 student-athletes and the only women's tennis athlete on the Academic All-District IV list, which is comprised of NCAA Division III schools in Pennsylvania. Krishnasamy was the lone representative from the PAC on the team.
She maintains a 3.77 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in Biochemistry. She has twice been named to the Presidents' Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Krishnasamy has been a standout on the court for the Presidents in her first three seasons of competition. She is a two-time PAC Player of the Year, the 2019-20 PAC Tournament Most Valuable Player and named to the PAC All-Tournament Team in both 2019-20 and 2020-21. She is also a four-time PAC Player of the Week honoree.
She has earned All-PAC First Team status at No. 1 Singles in all three seasons. Krishnasamy was first team at No. 1 Doubles in both 2018-19 and 2019-20 before earning second team recognition this past spring. She holds a collegiate record of 35-6 at No. 1 singles and a 24-16 mark at No. 1 doubles. She holds a 26-1 singles record against PAC competition during her career.
Krishnasamy helped lead W&J to its first-ever PAC women's tennis team championship in October of 2019.
She is a Howard J. Burnett Presidential Academic Scholar, a Washington Fellows Scholar and a six-time member of the Dean's List.
Krishnasamy recently received the 2020-21 Paul Reardon Award, which is presentently annually to W&J's top two junior student-athletes.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early August. The at-large program includes athletes from the following sports: fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo and wrestling.
