W&J drops PAC dual meet at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Washington & Jefferson College swimming & diving teams opened up a busy weekend with a dual meet Friday night against Allegheny College. The host Gators took both the men's and women's portions of the meet. 
 
The W&J men were led by sophomore Nathan Smith (Fort Defiance, Va./Fort Defiance), who posted times of 57.63 in the 100 Backstroke and 2:12.33 in the 200 Backstroke. 
 
Esteban Sanchez-Sink (Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) was second in the 100 Freestyle. The freshman clocked in at 55.87 in the event. 

On the women's side, freshman Madison Trunzo (Elizabethtown, Pa./Cedar Cliff) accumulated a score of 335.75 to give W&J nine diving points. 

Molly Nielsen (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek) placed second in a competitive 100 Freestyle race. Nielsen touched the wall at 57.80. The junior added a third place finish in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 27.14.

Taylor Newton (Olyphant, Pa./Scranton Prep) finished second in the 200 Freestyle, logging a time of 2:18.35. The sophomore added another runner-up finish, timing in at 6:11.94 in the 500 Freestyle. 

W&J returns to competition on Saturday afternoon when they head to Bethany College for another conference meet at 1 p.m.
